A Devotional:

“Therefore don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

– Matthew 6:34: (CSB)

This is a part of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. Great crowds of people have been following Jesus as he has been preaching all over Galilee. He sees a great crowd of people following Him, goes up on the mountain with His disciples and begins to preach. Just over halfway through his teaching, He says this. Don’t worry about tomorrow.

It’s really hard to not worry when something is out of our control, but that’s exactly what Jesus is saying. Don’t worry about the things we can’t control. God is in control and He cares for us. That’s why it’s so important that we put our trust in Him.

We aren’t able to control what’s going to happen tomorrow. So let’s not allow our fears of what MIGHT happen to make us miss what IS happening. Don’t be so worried that you miss some awesome playtime with your family, or the chance to discover a new world within the pages of a book, or the chance to tell your Heavenly Father about your day. Let tomorrow worry about tomorrow, focus on making today the best day yet.

Pray: God, thank you for loving me and looking after me. Help me to focus on you and the time that you have given me with my family. Guide me and protect me as I focus on today.
