A Devotional:

Spring Has Sprung!

“The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord sits enthroned, King forever.”

Psalm 29:10

Last week, it seemed like all of spring was wrapped up in one night. We saw straight winds, tornado warnings, lightning, thunder, flooding, and hail after a beautiful sunny day! Did I miss anything? Weather is so unpredictable this time of year. Oklahoma certainly keeps our weather teams on their toes and native Oklahomans on their front porches!

Psalm 29:1-2 David says, “Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due to his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.”

In Psalm 29, David describes every type of weather event possible. Verses 1 and 2 remind us of God’s glory, His strength, and that it is He who sits on the throne. It is also the Lord who gives us peace when our hearts are in turmoil. It is He who responds when we are facing what seems to be immovable objects. He knows us, but we must know and trust Him.

God was on the throne at creation. He was on the throne at the flood. God is still on the throne today! We cannot do life on our own or in our own strength. God can take us way beyond what we could ever imagine and give us peace throughout the journey. No matter what is happening in our lives–whether it is a sunshiny day or a fierce storm we are praying to pass, God is still on the throne!

As fierce as the storms were last week, the sky, clouds, and rainbows after the storm were incredible reminders of the beauty and peace that truly passes all understanding that comes from our heavenly Father. We have confidence in God’s truth and can declare, the Lord is my strength, He is my peace and He is on the throne.

Psalm 29:11, “The Lord gives his people strength; the Lord blesses his people with peace.”

Pray: Father God, thank you for the reminders in nature of your power, your strength, and your peace. Help me today to know you, trust you and follow You as You move us and guide us in every part of our life.
