A Devotional:

I Am Praying For You!

“We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.”

– Romans 8:28

School is in session and kids (and parents) everywhere are navigating all things new. I have a granddaughter who started Kindergarten a few weeks ago. She is loving it! Well, except for playground time. It was discovered there was a boy on the playground from a different class that just felt the need to torment her. She is one that wants to be friends with everyone. After much frustration for over a week, her parents explained to her that she could be nice to him by smiling or waving, but it was okay to avoid playing in the same area he was in. So the next day came and he began a few antics. She came up with the best thing she to say to him, “I am going to pray for you!” She turned and found another area to play in. I also know that she meant what she said and that she did pray for him. When she prays, she prays from her heart and for whatever the situation she is facing.

There are times in our lives, our families, our marriages, and even on the playground that we just don’t see any way around what we are facing. These are the times we must cling to God and remember His Word. We know that all things work together for good to those who love Him and are submitted to His purpose in our lives. The verses just prior to this passage are talking about prayer and how the Spirit intercedes for us. When we pray, God works powerfully in our lives.

Whenever we do face those things in our lives that seem hopeless or overwhelming, ask God to do something in your situation. Ask Him for something that you cannot even imagine or would even think possible. No matter how hopeless is seems, keep praying and thanking God that He works all things our good.

I don’t know what all our granddaughter will learn from these lessons on the playground this year, but what I do know is that the Holy Spirit is interceding on her behalf and for that, I am very grateful.

Pray: Father, thank You for giving us the Holy Spirit to intercede on our behalf. The things in my life right now that seem insurmountable, I know they are not too difficult for You. I know You have everything needed to carry me through this. Though I may not see the good right now that can come from this, I can trust Your power to transform this situation.
