“Don’t Waste This Time!”
“I have no greater joy than this: to hear that my children are walking in truth.”
– 3 John 1:4
Isn’t that the desire of every parent for their children to live in truth? Throughout their lives, they will see and hear so much from the world that is not the truth. Parents, you are the biggest influencers in your children’s lives.
Right now, you have an opportunity to re-focus your schedules, your priorities and focus on the most precious gifts God has given you, your children. Deuteronomy 6:5-8 tells us to talk to our children when we sit at home, walk along the road, when we lie down and when we get up. Now is the time.
Pray with your child and encourage them to talk to God. Read Bible stories every day to your children. As you take walks, be sure to point out the many gifts God has given us in nature. The new green leaves on our trees, the flowers beginning to bloom, the clouds in the sky, and the birds singing. Tell them how much God loves them, remind them that God made them and that Jesus wants to be their friend forever!
Parents, God has called you to be your child’s primary spiritual foundation builder. Don’t waste this time at home. Be intentional in teaching your children truth as you do life. If you want your children to walk in truth, you should be the ones to teach them.
Pray: Father God, thank you for the children you have entrusted me. Give me wisdom in leading (child’s name) to walk in Your truth. Help me to recognize the teaching moments You give me in our daily lives.
